Ah, the good ol’ Giana Sisters. If you’re unfamiliar with this game, hopefully after watching my review of it you’ll know a little about this game. I personally never had a C64 growing up, I was an NES kid. Actually, I hadn’t even heard of the Commodore 64 until probably the mid 90’s or so, and since the early 2000’s I’ve been exploring the plethora of software and games available for it via emulation. It wasn’t until about late summer of 2011 that I had some extra cash and was debating whether to buy a Commodore 64, or an Apple IIgs. I was trying to weigh the pros and cons of each system and eventually took it to Twitter where Clint of Lazy Game Reviews pretty much told me to go for the Commodore 64. I’m glad I did, as this thing has given me more hours of entertainment than I would have ever imagined. I’m practically in love with it.
I don’t remember where I originally heard of The Great Giana Sisters from, but I do believe it was around 2004 or 2005. It was a pretty memorable game night full of beers and pizza, and I didn’t put the game down until I had beaten it. Very few games have that effect on me, which is part of the reason it was so memorable, even today after 25 years of the game being released, and 7 – 8 years after I beat it.
